Overview

This is a critical role charged with creating new Enterprise Data capabilities for 7-Eleven’s IT organization and mobilizing a technically sound data management team for the company. The leader will select and steward master data and data warehousing IT assets for the organization. The candidate will determine a master data and transactional data warehousing strategy to establish a solid foundation for Enterprise. This will enable business intelligence capability across multiple functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develops the technology plan to address the business needs of 7-eleven regarding master data and data warehousing
  • Identifies and builds the key technical capabilities to enable Enterprise Data foundation
  • Recruits and retains the best technical talent to execute data strategy, which includes, but is not limited to the right technology architecture and proper architectural standards and governance
  • Build and lead a data architecture team, closely collaborating with enterprise architecture to drive information architecture standards, best practices and on-going governance including data design, structure, data management, and data warehousing
  • Partners with 7-Eleven Enterprise leaders to understand business challenges, competitive landscape and financial goals and to define how data engineering solutions will support current and future business strategies, providing full stack solutions to product and business teams
  • Will use open source, machine learning and cloud solutions to deliver high quality data on the right platforms, to end users
  • Creates a data management organization with a focus on data quality, in line with industry best practices and standards. Defines processes and procedures to keep data clean and relevant
  • Partners with legal and business to define standards and processes for data privacy and security
  • Leads development of performance indicators, dashboards & reports; analytics function will be resident in business
  • Drives prioritization of data projects, manages dependencies and identifies roadblocks to delivery
  • Recommends innovative and differentiating data solutions that drive capability improvements for the business
  • Identifies, evaluates and promotes the use of new data and analytics technologies for new business capabilities

Qualifications

Education/Experience:                                                                                                                                           

  • Minimum 5 years of experience building data engineering solutions treating data as a strategic asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading software engineering teams to develop master data, data warehousing & data engineering solutions
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with data governance, data stewardship, architecture and privacy

Key Skills:                                                                                                                                                                   

  • Thorough knowledge of Master Data and Warehousing strategy, architecture/standards, and advanced technology platforms
  • Proven ability to attract and develop strong technical talent
  • Experience in data modeling and database design from conceptualization to database optimization
  • Breadth in established and emerging data technologies; Experience in scalable cloud-based data solutions
  • Proven leadership skills to build a coalition to drive the data function across Enterprise
  • Strong financial management experience with proven ability to manage multi-year programs
