This position is responsible for the reconciliation of sales tax department general ledger accounts, accrual preparation as well as flux analysis for assigned accounts. The position will also setup and maintain systems used for sales tax determinations, compliance and payments.


  • Responsible for completing the sales tax accounting month end process. Including perform routine month end close activities and work with management team to close the books in the time allotted and perform system maintenance which relates to the month end close process. Responsible for loading account reconciliations monthly for sales tax in a timely manner within the company's proprietary repository. Responsible for the timely clearing of reconciling items for assigned general ledger accounts and communication of issues to the appropriate individuals within the company.
  • Setup and maintain sales tax configurations for all applicable accounting systems used to record and report sales tax related transactions. Analyze and evaluate sales tax related components of transactions to identify and resolve errors. Identify and implement best practice methods and opportunities for process improvement within accounting systems set-up activities.
  • Prepare SOX controls for sales tax periodically in accordance with GAAP. Serve as central point of contact on inquiries relating to SOX controls. Lead walkthrough meeting with internal and external auditors and provide support to auditors during interim and year end testing. Provide additional information and insight into the preparation of the SOX controls at the request of management and make recommendations to streamline the preparation process. .
  • Participate in sales tax special projects at the request of management. Researching sales tax issues and providing root cause analysis to management. Assist management in the design and implementation of various process improvements to support scalable business growth. Understand and accurately communicate current state business processes, including existing obstacles and inefficiencies. Consider alternative solutions and provide recommendations to management.


  • Education: Bachelors/ 4 Yr Degree, CPA
  • Experience: 3-4 Years, Financial Accounting and Transaction Tax
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required to independently understand and appropriately respond to a variety of business process issues.
  • Strong computer skills. Microsoft Office programs are heavily used.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and database concepts is useful.
  • Strong organizational skills are required to identify and prioritize deadlines across multiple assignments.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
