    About This Opportunity

    Responsibilities

    7-Eleven is looking for an experienced software engineering leader to help drive efforts to digitally enable our enterprise and be a part of an amazing technology transformation with an iconic industry leader.  The selected candidate will seek and recruit top talent to build a world class engineering organization and evolve 7-Eleven’s enterprise systems.  Specifically, the candidate will lead and drive the modernization of our enterprise systems and build new capabilities across business units and domains using the latest and greatest technologies… This is a great opportunity to drive innovation and evolve mission critical high availability enterprise systems by applying the latest technologies and frameworks.  The candidate will report directly to the Vice President, Enterprise Systems. 

    • This leader must have extensive engineering experience with modern technology stack specifically, microservices architecture, cloud technologies primarily

      • AWS and Azure
      • Java
      • Springboot
      • NodeJS
      • React or Angular JS for front end development
      • Messaging platforms / brokers such as Kafka or Kinesis
      • Modern relational 
      • NOSQL DB technologies (such as Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
    • The candidate should also have strong leadership skills and an eye for talent with the ability to attract and recruit top engineering talent, and a track record of successfully leading large-scale technology implementations in retail or related industries.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (and preferably a Masters degree) in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
    • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with increasing responsibilities.
    • 5+ years of experience in leadership/management roles, including experience managing and motivating other managers.
    • Experience managing a Software Development Organization with a team of 30+ engineers.
    • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate with highly-technical personnel as well as non-technical business leaders.
    • Building cloud-native applications in public cloud (Azure, AWS, OCI).
    • Experience with modern tech stack and open source technologies required.
    • Proven ability to work in a fast paced Agile environment, delivering functional features in small increments within short timeframes (2 week) sprints .
    • Work collaboratively with the business stakeholders and product management leaders to evolve our systems and execute to the product roadmap.
    • Drive technology evolution for the domain and all in scope applications.
